My concern for APC

MY CONCERN WITH APC

The birth of All Progressive Congress, APC was a welcome development to all and sundry that have the development of Nigeria at heart. This is a party we all expected more than four years ago. When INEC announced the registration of APC, some of us that believe nothing good can come out of the ruling party again shouted the word "CHANGE". Like I do say, APC may not neccessary means change/bring change, what is more glaring about the formation of the party is that it will absolutely bring the long over-due competition which will of course bring the change we are all clamouring for.

I am a die-hard fan of Chief Bisi Akande(though he made me lost a year and totally sent me away from public secondary school), his transparency and accountability in governance is worthy of emulation. Barring his "not teacher friendly" education policy, he remains one of the best governor Osun state has ever produced. Just like His Excellency Rochas Owelle Okorocha said in his speech during the 75th birthday celebration of Baba Akande, when I grow up, I want to be like him. Akande's resilience and radical nature caught my attention, and maybe the reason I have sympathy for his party; AD>AC>>ACN

It's obvious Nigeria politics need a strong and formidable  opposition. ACN needs something new inorder to consolidate their victories in the southwest. CPC surprised many with their landslide victory in Nassarawa state coupled with the millions of vote they garner in the 2011 presidential election just within few months of their registration. Heaven and earth knows Senator Julius Ali Ucha of ANPP won the gubernatorial election in Ebonyi state(where I was an observer). Benue was another state where many believed ACN was grossly rigged out by PDP in the 2011 guber election. These and many more are reasons why many believe if these parties come together, they can give a tough challenge to the PDP and possibly arrest power from them.

And to God be the glory here come the party we have all been clamouring for, APC!!!
One basic fact is that an average Nigeria is tired of PDP administration and that manifested in the result of 2011 general election notably in the  southwest. Even without the likes of Richard Akinjide, Teslim Folarin, Raji Rasaki, Rasheed Ladoja and other bigwig politicians in Oyo state, ACN won. Who now tell APC need Buba Marwa or Atiku Abubakar to win elections in Adamawa?

Where APC got it wrong was when they started extending  their invitation to most politicians that we all assumed have put our dear country Nigeria in the abyssal situation we are today. And to cap it all, APC wants OBJ to be their 'navigator'.
Letz assumed he accepted the offer, OBJ  will now be a progressive!?
Political parties are mostly established on the basis of ideology. With the billions of naira Bukola Saraki loot from the cofer of his state treasury, so he is now a progressive?
Ameachi turns a 'Progressive' simply because he is in the battle of supremacy with GEJ!
Where is the ideology in our politics?

Bisi Akande, Ogboñnaya Onu, Muhammed Buhari, Chris Ngige,  Bola Tinubu, Rocha Okorocha, Adams Oshiomole, Raji Fashola, Niyi Adebayo, Annie Okonkwo are names we have a little trust in.
 What APC need most is mass appeal(which I believe they are enjoying in the southwest), and not exodus of kangaroo politicians that have been sidelined in the ruling party and thought the best they could do is to team up with APC. If APC really mean business come 2015, they have to regulate the influx of these stained politicians. They have nothing good to offer rather than destablize the party and move on to another party. Nigerians are watching and many are beginning to lose confidence in the party and of course question their sincerity of purpose.  Unless they are telling us they are desperate about power and not being driven by the interest of the masses.

SECONDARY SCHOOL PROTEST IN OSUN

The wide spread protest that took place in majority towns in Osun state today is really disheartening and totally uncalled for. This is a scenario that could be easily averted if proper measure has been put in place.

I will first of all sympathise with the majority students of our secondary schools in the state for the situation they find themselves at this eleventh hour. We have to all understand that the economy of the state is presently in coma and government is doing everything possible to revamp our dwindling economy. Till the state is buoyant again, we have to endure and this is one it. There is no two way out, government can't sponsor the whole WAEC fee of all students in the state for now. We must live with it for now. My only reservation for the government is that the notification of this norms  is coming very late. The students should have been informed months ago that their parents will pay for this year WAEC fee.

Our parents need to understand that education can not be totally free at least for now on this country. The earlier we understand this ,the better for us all. They have to make the necessary sacrifice for the better future of their wards. This can serve as their own compliment to the little the government is doing.

I will enjoin the state government to liaise with the management of WAEC to review  the payment deadline at least for the students of Osun state. This will allow many parents to meet up with the payment. Money isn't that easy to cough out with the current reality of our state economy. The future of many of the students will be at stake if they eventually miss out on this examination. This is a delicate issue that must be handled carefully.

A VISIT TO HON ABDULGAFAR AKONTAYO AMERE CONSTITUENCY OFFICE

Criticism is an integral part of life not peculiar to politics alone, it's a crucible in which characters are tested.

The build up to the reelection of Hon Abdulgafar Akintayo Amere to the federal house of representative was really a tensed one. It was full of drama, intrigues and of course politics. The election has come and gone and whether he was the masses favorite then has become history today. The beauty of it all is that he remains the lawmaker representing Iwo Federal Constituency in the lower chamber and the best any AYIWOLA indigenes can do is to support him and pray for a better representation from him.

As a concern indigene of the constituency, I was poised to visit the constituency office of Hon Akintayo Amere located along the popular Feesu road, just behind the AUD Elementary School. The visitation was born out deep burning passion to see for myself the newly completed ICT center facilitated by Hon Amere and as well ask questions on the various programs our dear honorable have for the good people of Iwoland. Besides that, I was as well fascinated with some various intervention of Hon Amere in the last seven months of his second term in office. Notably among these are the renovation of the Onto house immediately our king was appointed late last year. Donation of 2000litres of Diesel to Reality Radiovision Services to ease the problem of power the station is battling, building of a block of three classroom at Amere village and the recent facilitation of an Insurance Company to Iwo, a company according to the office of the honorable, that will employ hundreds of our teeming youths. I personally got attracted with the facilitation of a company to Iwo and concurrent recruitment of jobless youths in our environment and that singularly motivated me to visit the constituency office.  And of course I met the staff of the company at the constituency office, training tenths of youths in one of the halls within the ICT complex. I got to interact with the staffs of the company and I saw light at the end of the tunnel. It was really a laudable one.

Unemployment has been a major setback in the quest of our collective development as a constituency. And all hands must be put on deck to make sure unemployment is reduced to the minimum. And that's why Hon Amere must be commended for that bold step in bringing succor to our teeming youths. Also I was able to understand that the ICT center is now open for general use.

My very good brother, Mr Ajayi Fatai Seyinde was really helpful in taking me round the ICT centre despite the fact that it was an impromptu visit. He equally lectured me on program Hon Akintayo Amere has for his people, among other discussion.

While I want to commend Hon Amere and his staffs for feeling their impulse in the last seven months, it's imperative to note that there is always room for improvement. The expectation of average citizen of Iwo is high. Honorable must not rest on his oars. We want to see more from him in days to come. His policies and programs must be people oriented. I want to believe his best is yet to come. May God help him.

 The board of directors and the entire members of RAI FOUNDATION heartily felicitate with the Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi ILUFEMILOYE TELU 1 on the occasion of the official presentation of the staff of office and coronation that will comes up on Saturday, 16th of January, 2019.

In a message released by the foundation, the founder of the RAI Foundation Sir Rufai Adeniyi Ismail felicitate with the monarch on his historic ascending of the stool of his forefathers and pray for good health, wisdom and understanding for the king in order to pilot the ancient town to the promise land.

Sir RAI affirmed to the fact that its now a new dawn in Iwoland and enjoin all true sons and daughters of the land to support the monarch in his effort to redeem the lost glory of Iwo. He assured the populace that the king will definitely bring forth his wealth of experience and exposure in ensuring and advancing the course of developing Iwo.

Question: Prof Sir , how can mining industry contribute to Nigeria economy.  Can other minerals compete with Crude oil?


 Prof Yekeen : Minerals are everywhere. But they have to be in economic quantities to be mineable, otherwise it will not be worth the efforts. Before oil was discovered in Nigeria, minerals were the mainstay of the economy

Question: What mine-able minerals Iwoland has

 Prof Yekeen : Surficially, Iwo area is rich in granitic rocks. Pockets of pegmatites which are believed to be rich in exotic minerals also exist

Question: Sir, which is better refining the mineral here or selling the raw minerals??

Prof Yekeen: It depends on the prevailing economy and government policy

Question: Dear Prof, sir, Please tell us which is economically better (please take employment and shopping/ tourism to considerations) between refining here and selling our solids raw?

Prof Yekeen: Local refining will create more jobs. Starting with equipment fabrication. Through actual mining and beneficiation. I think tourism is out of it because nobody visits old or functional mines for relaxation here in Nigeria

Question: You said the minerals are everywhere, won't its mining has effect on agriculture because the same land used for planting is also where mining will be done??

Prof Yekeen : Cost-Benefit Analysis will be carried out  during EIA. Usually there is plan for environmental restoration. There are several ways of doing this.
Question: What is EIA?

 Prof Yekeen : Environmental Impact Assessment
Case example: Limestone has been mined and processed in Ewekoro for years. Farmlands have been affected. Compensations are paid, local employment is provided, and corporate social responsibility is ensured ...in terms of provision of amenities (schools, water, electricity, health facilities, recreation centres, etc. In some places, abandoned mine ponds are stocked with  fish fingerlings. Mine tailings are even used to fill some cavities.

Question : Prof sir, is there any intervention fund available for mining company in Nigeria, if yes can we know the procedure?

 Prof Yekeen: Just like any other business in Nigeria, intervention exists through the provision of loan facilities, as well as moratorium in tax payment. But I think the detail can be obtained from Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals

Question: Dear sir,  what are the advantages of the exploitation of all these minerals to the host community?

Prof Yekeen: Compensations are paid, local employment is provided, and corporate social responsibility is ensured.  .....in terms of provision of amenities (schools, water, electricity, health facilities, recreation centres, etc.)  Of course, there are also disadvantages. However, these can be minimised with proper mine planning, evaluation and post mining restoration of the environment. Civil societies are always there to ensure that the right things are done. 😊

Question:  Can individual be given permission to mine on his own land? If yes, what are d processes involved?

Prof Yekeen : Land Use Decree stipulates that all lands belong to the Federal government Government. It is advisable to carry out  geological investigation to first ascertain that what you have on your land is mineral deposit, and not just mineral occurrence. Then the area can be charted and the coordinates sent to Cadastral Office to see if the area has not be acquired for the same purpose. Then you can follow up by applying for mining permit. I'm sure some amounts of money have to be involved.

QUESTION: What types of minerals are found in the pegmatitic vein in this part of the country and how viable are they in the market?!

Prof Yekeen : The geologist is referred to "Minerals and Industry in Nigeria", a publication of the Geological Survey of Nigeria,  now NGSA.😊 On a serious note, you can only see when you look. Mineral exploration is not a one-day work. It is equally capital intensive. For a do-it-yourself, I suggest you purchase a copy of the Geological Map of Nigeria. It is available in soft copy from NGSA Office, Abuja.😀

Question: How can minerals and its quantity be detected locally and is there any benefits to host community from the government?  If yes explain sir

Prof Yekeen: Minerals' quality and quantity can be obtained through EXPLORATION. That is the essence

Question: Sir, as we all know mining is a very capital intensive sector. How can individual get license to operate a mine and as well supporting funds from government?


Prof Yekeen : Thanks, Abu Haneefah. Getting a license should not be difficult. What is more difficult is the fund. But this depends on your scale of operation. The bigger the head, the bigger the headache! There are cottage/artisanal  mining industries with little financial base. The Bank of Industry is there to assist. The Central Bank, I heard,  also finances such project. First thing first: do your homework in terms of exploration. And your market survey.

Question: Can the host community or a group of people in the community be given licence to be mining the land?

And is there a bank in Nigeria that empowers community miners like that of agriculturists?

Prof Yekeen: Host community can float a mining company. A couple of years ago, SMEDAN commissioned my university to carry out a survey on artisanal mining in Nigeria. I'm sure the agency will be willing to assist small and medium scale mining outfits. Bank of Industry is meant for ALL industries 😊.
 If there are no more questions..... My time is far spent😊😊😊

Question: From my observation, no state can be more blessed than than Kogi state in term of iron deposit and that hence the reason for the siting of Ajaokuta steel rolling.
Up till moment, the country has not utilized up to 1% of the aim of the plant.

Now, what encouragement do you want to give us as a professor that going into tapping of these mineral resources in our land, we will be be encourage by government having it in mind that, no community has freedom of mining or exploration without the approval of government.

Prof Yekeen : Our forefathers were smelting iron ore in those days, but in little quantities. Evidences are replete. But as a community, you can start smelting in small quantities and you will still make a difference.  That is what SMEDAN wants. There are lots of things wrong with Itakpe vis a vis Ajaokuta steel industry. But I'm a geologist, not a policy maker!😊

Question: Please Prof, who are the target markets for these raw materials?

Prof Yekeen: Thanks. It depends on the semi-processed raw material. Pharmaceutical industry, construction industry, paper manufacturing, rubber industry. Electrical and electronics industry, Food industry,  Beverage

Question: How beneficial is mining to an individual and what are the requirements involved in starting up mining on one's land.

 Prof Yekeen: Thanks. Mining is as beneficial as any legitimate business. It also has its own risks, though


Question: Please Prof, which part of Iwo and its environs do we have these raw materials in commercial quantities?

Prof Yekeen : I have explored for Granitic rocks in Eleha area. I was looking for granites, and I saw granites. I was happy,  and my client was happy.😊

Question: What are the academic like you doing to make the geological map readily available to everyone and when was the last time the map was updated?!

 Prof Yekeen : You may see if you look; you may see better if you look harder. Geological mapping is just one step in mineral exploration. As an academic of 33 years experience, as a registered and practising geoscientist, I have carried out SEVERAL  exercises for individuals and corporate bodies. Therefore, we are doing a lot!

Question :Sir, could you please tell us when last geological map was updated?

Prof Yekeen: NGSA produced an updated version less than 10 years ago. It depends on what you need a geological map for. You may not need an update to work. In some geological work, the older the better!  Quite funny

Question:As Yoruba elders usually say' Yinni yinni keni semi' Thanks for your time sir. Pls,Can u intimate us briefly the stratagem of this present administration in mineral sector perhap it can be of help sir?

 Prof Yekeen: Geology goes beyond the surface  or even immediate subsurface
Ah! Buhari administration just came on board. I'm not sure if Dr Fayemi, the minister, has finished studying the files. So, I can't say where the thinking will be directed. However, the government's body language is tilted towards diversification from oil. And I think solid minerals and agriculture are  good stead to be favoured.

This serve as an invitation to all sons and daughters of Iwoland, both home and abroad, and of course friends and well wishers to this historical occasion.

May God in His infinite mercy spare our lives till then.

FILSU ELECTION STALEMATE; WAY FORWARD

FILSU ELECTION STALEMATE; WAY FORWARD?!

What happened on 28th of DEC, 2015 is the best we could get out of that day as far as am concerned. No sane man we expect election to go on in such a tensed atmosphere. The worst would have happened if I may say, putting into consideration the machineries on ground from different quarters if the election eventually go on.

And of course no true sons of the soil would expect to elect a credible candidate in such a scenario or rather expect a free and fair election with series of allegations and  counter allegations from the leading contestants, couple with the imperfection of the electoral body. The radicalism the majority of the students displayed was the best at that very point in time and it simply showed how conscious majority of Iwo youths are politically. Though its shameful such could happen at this era of our development.

The election simply tell us the decay in our society, the level at which our land, Iwo has degenerated into. An awkward situation where leading political figures in the land we go all out with all their arsenal simply to influence a students union election for their selfish interest. While I agree to the fact that there is leverage for anyone to have interest in any candidates of his/her choice, my point is that the way they go about it was not the right way in any sane society.

It's just a shame we found ourselves in such abyssal condition and I fear for the future of our land. A situations whereby fathers use their sons to play politics of hatred and bitterness, using FILSU to settle political scores that have been lingering within themselves. Its just totally shameful.

I applaud the courage of all FILSUITES and like I said earlier, cancellation of the election as witnessed on that day is a victory for Iwoland students. Only the wise ones will understand my point here. We can always go back to round table and fashion a way to salvage the union from this present mess.

Shameless politicians can't just hijack our Union for their own ulterior motive. We must not allow such to happen. Electing any of the presidential candidates on that very day would have been a dent to our union integrity and sincerity of purpose. FILSU is an independent body. Its for students and students alone. Excesses of these politicians must be restricted with everything . And that is where radicalism comes in. Only radicals can successfully run our Union and not rascals.

While I commend the peaceful conduct of all Iwo students after the imbroglio, I enjoin us to  maintain such sense of responsibility until lasting peace is obtained.

This is a time to speak in one voice. We have never had it so bad like this in recent time. And we have all it takes to right the wrongs. We can do this. We must repel the activities of these politicians . They meant no well for us. They must not be allowed to hijack the union. This is the best way to start. Other lingering problems from stakeholderism to rascalism within the Union and many other obvious problems could easily be solved if these good for nothing politicians from all quarters stay away from the elections activities. They are the bane of the present imbroglio. Nothing more.

SITUATION OF EDUCATION IN IWOLAND

SITUATION OF EDUCATION IN IWOLAND AND WAY FORWARD

The present situation of education in Iwoland has called for all concerns stakeholders that are passionate about the future of Iwoland to come together and fashion a way to ameliorates the disheartening conduction of education. The recent WAEC result that was released by the council confirmed the geometric decay in this important sector of our community.

Less than 20% of students that sat for May/June 2015 WAEC made five credits including Mathematics and English. A popular school in Iwo Metropolis (Name withheld) where 213 students sat for the examination, only 43 made credit in Mathematics. This has become the trend in the last couple of years and proper attention is needed to salvage this unfortunate scenario if truly the development of our community Iwoland is at heart.

A lot of factors have been identified as the reason behind this decadence. It is obvious the problem is a hydra-head one. It is tripartite in the sense that Parents, Teachers and the government are all responsible for the dwindling condition of education.

Iwoland Development Coalition, as a stakeholder has swift into action in her quest to find a lasting solution or rather reduce the problem facing education to the minimum. A lot of problems have been identified and also the possible measure to be taken. During the last meeting of the coalition it was agreed that principals of Iwoland Origin should be deployed to all schools in Iwoland.

The rationale behind the bringing of Principals of Iwoland Origin is that it will not only create a sense of belonging and participation but also ensure accountability on the part of the principals. Principals that are experienced, exposed, disciplined and as well willing, who are from Iwoland should be lobbied and deployed to our various schools.

Oluponna and few other communities have bought into the idea of deploying indigenes of their land to their schools and it has been working perfectly for the town. There is a difference between a school where teachers work to serve their community and where teachers work to earn their salary. Patriotism on the part of the teacher will make them to work without looking at the inefficiency of either parents or government.  A teacher from a community will never want to bring shame on himself or herself if people should hear that failure rate is very high in her class. Similarly, he will know the pupils/students very well as well as their parents.

Another identified problem which is the lost in the value of education   among the students. Most students do not really understand the value of education. The lackadaisical attitude on the part of the student has contributed a lot to the degenerating condition of education. These students need a continuous sensitization, orientation and re-orientation. Moral decadence is at peak in our school. Seminars and symposia where the theme will be to sensitize and instill the value of education into the mindset of students. There is need to revisit the school tour programme the coalition did few months ago. This will center around talks on academics excellence, leadership, entrepreneurs and community development. This will also help in opening the mindset of students to the beauty of education.

Education decadence in Osun state.

Today is world Teachers day and i will like to talk on education where I want to say unequivocally that Aregbe got everything wrong.

From building of new structures to the Opon Imo project to school merging and what have you.

I have toured virtually most schools in at least Iwoland and I can say it categorically that what our schools need is renovation and not new class rooms. In fact there are excess classrooms in some schools visited and I want to believe the same thing is applicable in most local governments in the state. Aregbe wasted billions of naira in erecting new structures instead of renovating the existing ones with little millions of naira. That's misplaced of priority if I may say. I expected Aregbe to do what Ameachi did in River state, Green Revolution. Schools were renovated, painted all in green colour, adequate chairs were provided and every school have a playing ground. Little money would have been spent on this and better result would be achieved. Average students in Osun still go to school with chair and table, else they sit on the floor. We need more chairs and tables, conducive learning environment and the likes.

School merging is one of the greatest mistake Aregbe made. Awolowo' vision was to have a school within 500m radius. Now students needs to walk as far as 3km to the nearest school in the name of school merger. Some students now need to walk as long as a journey between Igege and Ilemowu when going to school. This policy alone got a lot of students out of school. The merger is meaningless to me and has contributed to the present condition of our eduction.

Opon Imo is a scam and it's obvious to the blind. Such innovation can't work in our environment, at least for now. And it has never worked since it's introduction. It has simply made our teachers more lazy. Students are referred to the tablets by their teachers and these are tablets that do not get to students until few weeks to WAEC. Mind you only SS3 students have access to the Opon Imo. What's the faith of other thousands of students in both secondary and primary schools in the state. Half of Opon Imo budget can buy textbooks for all pupils and students in Osun state.

Incentives to Teachers; how would you get the best out of an hungry man?! While other states are rewarding teachers that have done excellently with car gift, Osun is oweing teachers several months of salary. There was a time there are no chalk in Osun schools for teacher to be used to teach students.

Aregbesola may have good intention but his manner of approach are wrong. He has little understanding of how things work in Osun and that is the main reason we are in this mess.

The education summit that was chaired by Prof Wole Soyinka has brought no meaningful advancement to our education. We have continued to go down the ladder among other States.

What has the reclassification of school brought to the development of our education?! Absolutely nothing


Osun government needs to revisit their education policy and review it. Seriously it's not working.


Aregbe got it wrong in his education policy and we are presently experiencing the worst in the state in our education system.

PROFILE OF ENGR. ADELERE ADEYEMI ORIOLOWO
Engr. Adelere Adeyemi was born about 59 years ago into the family of Late Raheem Akanji Oriolowo and Alhaja Samirat Abideni Oriolowo of Oriolowo’s compound, Molete, Iwo.

He attended Baptist Day School, Oke-Odo, Iwo from 1964 to 1970, Baptist High School, Iwo 1971 to 1975, The Polytechnic Ibadan 1976 to 1978 and University of Ife (Now OAU) from 1979 to1984.

He is a career civil servant, a technocrat and practicing farmer. He rose from the position of Pupil Engineer in the old Oyo State Agricultural Development Project, Saki to the position of General Manager in the state of Osun Agricultural Development Corporation and presently to the position of Permanent Secretary in the service of the State of Osun. As a development Project Manager he has pioneered and headed many externally funded development projects. He is the current Project Coordinator for the World Bank/French Development Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP-2) in the state of Osun.
He is a family and community man which made Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, (a friend and classmate of his and the Executive Governor of the State of Osun), to appoint him as the first Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs. He is also an international and national man, who has toured all parts of Nigeria and the world. He is an advocate of dignity of labour, integrity, etiquette and personal behavioural management.

He is the current Chancellor of Iwo Silvber Club and member of Dobar Compatibles Oyo.

He is happily married to Dns. Felicai Ayanjoju Oriolowo and they are blessed with children who are professionals in different fields of their careers.

PROFILE OF ENGR. AKANDE DAUDA OLATUNDE
He was born into the family of Alhaji and Alhaja Abdul Azeez Adigun Akande of the Odu Compound in Iwo town, Osun State about fifty years ago.
He started his primary education at Ibadan City Council (I.C.C) Primary School, Apata-Ganga, Ibadan now Ibadan Municipal Government Primary School (I.M.G) after which he proceeded to Prospect High School, Abanla Ibadan for his secondary education to obtain his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1982.

He then further his education to the Polytechnic Ibadan where he obtained his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher Diploma Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering (Power Option) in 1990 and later proceeded to the Federal University of Technology, Akure for his Post Graduate Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ( PGDFF) .

He again obtained Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho.
He is gainfully employed with the then National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) which metamorphosed into Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and after the privatization of the Distribution and Generation sector, he is presently in the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) where he has served for thirty years.
He has attended several courses/trainings both in Nigeria and Overseas in relation to generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.

He is happily married with children.



PROFILE OF OTUNBA WAIDI OLAJIRE AYINLA
(FCIA, PDM, FCIPMA, MBA, FCNA, LLBHONS, BL, PHD (Honoris Cosa, FITM)
Otunba Waidi Olajire Ayinla was born on the 27th day of December, 1957 to the family of Late Chief Jakiru Ayinla of Fojugbagi Compound, Isale Oba, Iwo.

He attended Ansar U Deen Primary School, Akinfewa Iwo between 1967 and 1972, L.A Modern School between 1973 and 1975, Baptist College, Iwo between 1975 and 1978.
He later attended Federal Polytechnic, Akure and Ado Ekiti for his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) between 1980 and 1985. He proceeded to Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso where he was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science in 1994, University of Ilorin where he bagged Masters in Business Adminstration (MBA) in 2000 and LLB (Hons) Common Law in 2010. He was awarded Phd (Honoris Cosa) in Public Adminstration by Atlas University, Philadephia, Pennsylvania in 2011. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012.

He started his career with State Award given to him due to his brilliant performance during the National Youth Service in 1986 and later became the Head of Accounts of the Oyo State Sports Council in the old Oyo State till August 1991 when Osun State was created. He was an Assistant Director (Finance) in the Ministry of Lands and Office of the Accountant General between 1994 and 1997 in Osun State. He was at various times Director (Finance) High Court of Justice, Hospitals Management Board, the State House of Assembly and Office of the Governor. He is presently the Director of Finance Ministry of Education.

Jiire Ayinla is a true son of Iwo who displayed a true love for his town. His effort has enchanted developmental efforts in the town and environs.
He is happily married with children.



PROFILE OF ALHAJI (CHIEF) MUSIBAU OLALERE MAKANJUOLA
(The Akinrogun of Iwo Land)
(MBA; FCA; FCTI; FNIM)
Born in Laapo’s Compound, Gidigbo Quarters of Iwo Local Government, Alhaji Musibau Olalere Makanjuola had his Elementary Primary School at Aipate Baptist Day School and completed same in 1971.

He later attended Local Authority Commercial Modern School, Iwo and crossed over to Ahmadiyya Grammar School (now Anwar Islam Grammar School) in 1973 for his secondary education which he completed in 1977/78.

He taught briefly at the St. Anthony Catholic Modern School and Local Authority Commercial Modern School both in Iwo from 1979 to 1981.

He attended the Polytechnic Ibadan from 1981 to 1983 and 1984 to 1986 from where he obtained Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy respectively.
After completion of compulsory one year NYSC Scheme in Old Benue State, he joined Adebowale Group of Companies until 1991 when he resigned as Group Internal Auditor.

He passed the final stage of examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) in May 1991 and was admitted as an Associate (ACA) in 1992.
He was employed by Nigerian Bottling Company in 1991 as an Assistant Audit Manager but moved over after two months to a multinational and world leading food manufacturing company by name Nestle Nigeria Plc as an Internal Auditor. He has worked in various sections of the company both locally and internationally. He is currently the Chief Accountant of Nestle Nigeria Plc. He has attended various courses and training both locally and internationally in some countries like, Ghana, France, Turkey, Uk, UAE and Switzerland to mention but few.
Alhaji Makanjuola also attended Lagos State University between 1999 and 2001 from where he obtained Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with specialization in Marketing Management.

Alhaji Makanjuola is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accoutant of Nigeria (FCA); fellow Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI); Fellow Nigeria Institute of Management (FNIM).



PROFILE OF ADUNADE ASIMIYU AMOO
Mr. Adunade Asimiyu Amoo was born in Iwo on the 26th of April. He started his education from Quranic School and later to District Council School, Araromi, Iwo for his primary school education. He later went to St. Charles Grammar School, Osogbo but later joined Iwo Grammar School, Iwo where he wrote and passed his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 1971. He was the school Senior Prefect in 1971. He worked as a school teacher at A.U.D. School Abanikanda, Iwo; a Library Assistant at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo and later as Clerk Grade ‘C’ at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lagos and Ibadan branches.
He left the Central Bank of Nigeria for the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he obtained a Bachelor of Art degree in History in 1978.

He attended the Royal institute of Administration, London for a Certificate Course in Public Administration in 1983. He equally attended the University of ESEAHAN in the Islamic Republic of Iran for a Certificate Course in Script Writing. Mr. Amoo attended Obafemi Awolowo University for his Post Graduate course in Public Administration in 1988. He has attended numerous in-service training which earned him the best job Analyst in the South West of Nigeria.

Mr. Adunade Amoo joined the Civil Service of Oyo State as Administration Officer VII in 1980. During his career as civil servant, he was appointed Sole Administrator Ila Ifedayo Disputed Area in 1992 and later as Sole Administrator Ife North Local Government Ipetumodu 1998. Through hard work, resilience and God’s guidance, he rose through administration officer cadre to become a Permanent Secretary in the Civil Service of Osun State in December 2003. He spent a period of eight and half (81/2) years as permanent secretary where he worked in various agencies of Government before retiring from Osun State Civil Service in April 2012.

Mr. Adunade Amoo is a self-made man. A bar attendant a stone blaster, a bus conductor and a house boy local and international to mention just a few of odd and jobs embarked upon by him. Mr. Amoo is a prolific writer. He has authored two books on history and ten literature books in Yoruba language some of which are in Secondary Schools throughout the Yoruba speaking States in Nigeria. My odyssey through the Civil Service” is an addendum to his numerous works.

Mr Adunade Asimiyu Amoo has won numerous awards such as Iwo Action Council Award, University of Ife Outstanding Alumni Award and Nigerian Baptist Convention Award, the Most Punctual Award of the British Council London, Iwo Grammar School Outstanding Student Award among others. He is a fellow of Nigeria Institute of Management, a fellow of the Institute of Management Service, London and a Member, British Institute of Management. He is a Jerusalem Pilgrim and a Justice of Peace of Osun State. Mr. Amoo is a philanthropist and for the past seven years, he has awarded scholarship to students of Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Local Government who excelled in the West Africa School Certificate Examination. He equally established an endowment for the privileged in the society and for the care of the widows. Mr. Amoo is a lover of sports and has donated numerous trophies and sport equipments to many schools in Osun State. He is a member of Osogbo Sport Club, Delta 85 Club of Iwo, and Iwo Progressive Group. He is the Patron of Iwo Patriotic Club and the secretary to Iwo Historical and Culture Centre for Development. He is a member of Christ Life Baptist Church, Osogbo.

Mr. Amoo is married to Mariam Aduke Amoo and blessed with God-fearing
Children.



PROFILE OF ATINWORE ADEKUNLE TAOFEEK
Mr. Atinwore Adekunle Taofeek was born in Iwo. He attended Aipate Baptist Day Primary School for his primary school education. He later attended Baptist High School Iwo between 1979 and 1986. Later, he proceeded to University of Ibadan from 1992 to 1997 and 1999 to 2000 where he obtained Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Masters in Personnel Psychology (MPP) respectively.
He has worked with University College Hospital (UCH), during his National Youth Service between 1997 and 1998; as Assistant Secretary II in 1998; acting Public Relation officer in 2000; Public Relation Officer between 2002 and 2009; Deputy Secretary (Establishment and Training) between 2009 and 2011 and Head, Department of General Administartion from 2011 till date.

He is married and blessed with children.

Succour beckons for Akinbami people as Airtel visit Akinbami clinic

The people of Akinbami village now has reason to be happy as Airtel visit the Akinbami clinic that was just constructed by Iwoland Development Coalition, a community based organization that is passionate about the developing and advancing the course of the people of Iwoland. Iwoland comprises of Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Local Government Areas of Osun state.

There is no any medical facilities in Akinbami and its environment and this has made life more difficult for the people of this community. Akinbami village is in Ayedire Local government and it's about 15km away from Iwo town. A quite number of lives were reported to have been lost due to common diseases as a result of unavailability of medical attention.

Mr Adisa Kabiru Adeniyi facilitated the donation of hospital equipment by Airtel through his NGO, Guildance Community Development Foundation. Major hospital equipment was donated by the giant communication network. Among the equipment are a hospital bed, Doppler, Oxidometer, Baby cot and the likes.

After the successful donation of the hospital equipment by Airtel, it now become necessary for erection of building where these equipment will be put into use. Iwoland Development Coalition now champion the course of building a clinic. Alhaji Suara Akeyo donated a dilapidated building for use and the patriotic members of the coalition both at home and abroad swift into action in putting the building in good shape. Members worthy of recognition in this successful course include Mr Olawale Rasheed, Princess Funmi Lamuye, Engr Semiu Odeyinka, Sir Niyi Rufai and others too numerous to mention. They donated generously both in kind and cash to make sure the dream of Akinbami people  having a clinic comes to reality.

20th of September, 2015 will remain a memorable day to the people of Akinbami. The clinic has been completed and the medical equipment has been installed for use. Airtel communication lauded the effort of IDC and look forward in partnering with the coalition in the nearest future in their quest of touching lives.

This was a great feat for all members of Iwoland development coalition. They have all worked both day and night in ensuring the people of Iwoland have a better living conditions. This is just a tip of ice berg as more developmental project are coming on the way.

Comrade Gbolagade Oluseye AKANMU, you're a great man!

Short Profile:
Comrade Akanmu Oluseye Gbolagade was born on 17th September early 80s at Tantan and Agbotokoyo Compound in Iwo Local Government.
He attended St. Anthony RCM, Idishin and Baptist High School, Adeeke, Iwo.
He Studied Banking and Finance at Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH) Esa Oke.

He is a Boy Scout from childhood and as an active member, he was part of the Contigent that represent Nigeria in London for World Scout Jamboree and Centinary in 2007. He had also represented Nigeria in Sharjah United Arab Emirates for Scouting and Humanitarian Action.
At present, he is a Civil Servant working with the Office of Works and Transportation Osun State as Zonal Commandant, Osun Traffic Marshal (O-TRAM) Iwo-Zone (Iwo, Aiyedire, Ola-Oluwa, Isokan, Irewole and Ayedaade).

X-raying The AYIWOLA Candidates

It is two weeks to the 2015 general elections and Nigerians will decide their fate.They will decide who will be their leaders and representatives for the next four years. There will be no governorship election in Osun come February.
Attentions and preparation are fully in top gear for the senatorial, house of representatives and state
house of assembly elections. While the candidate of APC for the Osun west senatorial district, Sen Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke is looking more likely to top the candidate of PDP, Sen Akinlabi Okasunkanmi.
Adeleke is enjoying the masses appeal and his campaign has been robust throughout the ten local government that made up the Osun west senatorial district. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Adeleke will carry the day come March 28.
Three candidates will slug it out for the AYIWOLA federal constituency and it is going to be a fierce battle.
The Labour Party, All Progressive Congress and Peoples Democratic Party are all presenting candidates for the Iwo federal constituency
election. The beauty of this election is that all the three candidates are coming from Iwo local government.
Who are the candidates?
Alhaji Sulaimon Akanji Bello, LP
Sulaimon Bello popularly called SeeBee is the candidate of Labour Party. He is an household name in Iwo politics having served in various political capacity in the past. He served as the chairman, projects monitoring during the first regime of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He later became the chairman of Iwo Local government between 2008 and 2010.
SeeBee is an accomplished politician, a former class room teacher and an hotelier. As a loyalist of Engr Fatai Akinbade, he left the PDP for Labour Party with the former SSG of the state and has remained in the party since then.
Akanji Bello performed meritoriously during his tenure as the chairman of Iwo local government.
He constructed more roads than any past chairmen in the history of the local government. Report has
it that he is arguably the best chairman Iwo has ever produced in recent time.
His few shortcomings; He was accused of financing his personal project with the local government fund when he was in office, an allegation he has debunked times without number.
In a recent conversation with him, Alhaji Bello confirmed that he secured bank loan to finance most of his businesses people are seeing and said documents to back it up are all available for interested individuals.
Many as well question the ability of his party to spring any surprise, being a relatively know party in the state. But when talking about
competence and capability, he has it and it may work well for him in the forthcoming elections.
Hon Gafar Akintayo Amere, APC
Akintayo AbdulGafar Amere is gunning for the second term in the lower chamber. He is in the ruling party in the state and this has given him an edge over other candidates.
The former ‘banker’ cum politician has acquired more enemies than friends even within his party, APC.
The majority of AYIWOLA masses believed he has performed below expectations in the lower chamber.
He has a divided followers within the party and his controversial victory in the primary election is another concern. It was rumoured that Amere was imposed by the party leaders in state, a moved that did not go down well with many party members.
He has a few projects to reel out to the ears of the AYIWOLA electorates. He constructed a magnificent class room building at L A commercial grammar school, Iwo, An ICT centre, Tractor for farmers and a handful of other projects.
His performance in terms of his primary assignment in the house has been questioned. Though his new found accord with the Gbenga Salawu, the man he defeated during the shadow election has boost his chances coupled with the intervention of Ogbeni Aregbesola.
Few members of the APC has been accused of working for opposition candidates but if the party could put their house in order, he has a
good chance.
Another pothole in Amere is the fact that the two local government in the constituency, Ola-Oluwa and Ayedire have accused the honourable of neglecting them and rather center all his projects in Iwo.
Hon Babatunde Ajani Ologburo, PDP
Ologburo is the candidate of PDP. He is an experienced politician and a grassroots mobilizer.
He was the former Secretary of Iwo local government between 1999-2002. He once contested for the Osun state house of assembly and lost to Hon. Rasaq Salinsile. He is a farmer, a philanthropist and a grassroots politician to the core.
Report has it that Hon Ologburo has never lost any election in his ward. He is loved by his people in Oke Oba. He has remained a loyal
member of PDP and the main reason he was rewarded and picked as the candidate of the party.
Though it was not a easy task for him winning the ticket. He has to battle it out with Mudasir Lukman
before clinching the ticket.
Ologburu has a lot of advantage. People see him as their own man. He has lived all his life in Iwo. He wine and dine with the common man. He understand Iwo politics better. He has a quite number of experiences at his disposal. If people are to leave party line and vote individual, he may have the day.
PDP as a party remains a big treat to his candidacy due to the lingering crisis rocking the party in the state.
In any cases Babatunde Ologburo stand tall among equal and a lot of factor may work for him. It seems people are tired with the situation of things in AYIWOLA constituency and they may vote for change.
As the D-day draws nearer, AYIWOLA masses need to vote for their conscience. Decision of today determines our position of tomorrow.

IWAC SILVER JUBILEE

Iwo Action Council, IWAC was formed on September 20, 1990 as an assembly of all Social Clubs and Professional Associations of Iwoland origin working assiduously for the advancement of Iwo in all fronts. Sixteen social clubs formed by intelligent and vibrant youths came together, after series of meeting, consultation, contact, brilliant deliberation and brainstorm session culminated into the birth of IWAC on September 20, 1990. After twenty five glorious years, IWAC can now boast of tenths of clubs within and outside Iwo that are all working collectively for the advancement and development of Iwo.
The Council formulated a number of lofty objectives among which are;
To be actively involved in the pursuance of progress and upliftment of Iwo. To plan for, organize and stage annual development appeal fund programme known as Iwo Day Celebration. To foster an unquantified and uncommon unity and cooperation among Iwo indigenes both at home and Diaspora. To embark on development projects and programme that can propel Iwo to excel among its contemporaries. To pursue vigorously within our resources, educational, commercial and industrial opportunities for Iwo Land.
IWAC has recorded a quite number of success in all ramification. The council has continued to be a force to reckon with in the front of developing Iwo.
The Silver Jubilee of IWAC has been slated to come up in the third week of October. A number of activities are already on the pipeline to mark the glorious 25th years of IWAC. The activities which will start with a Sunday worship will also include health program, sport, culture, TV and radio talks, and lots more. The silver jubilee celebration will be capped with dolling up of awards to outstanding Iwo sons and daughters that have contributed immersely to the advancement and development of Iwo.
Among the awardees are;
Otunba Jire Ayinla who will be bestowed with Philanthropic Award. Mr Adunade Amoo will be decorated with Cultural Icon Award for his unrelenting effort in promoting the cultural heritage of Iwoland. Engr Akande Olatunde Dada will be given Patriotic Service Award while Engr Lere Oriolowo will go home with Distinguished Rural Developer Award. Also among the awardees is Mr Taofeek Adekunle Atinwore who will be decorated with Humanity Service Award for his tremendous service to humanity. Alhaja Abibat Asunke will be bestowed with Business Woman Mobilizer Award while Chief Makanju Musbau will be given Industrial Pacesetter Award.
IWAC as an assembly of all socio – elite clubs and associations of Iwo Origin is the initiator, founder and the promoter of Iwo Day Celebration. Its aim is to see to all - round development of Iwo!

G- goal. Be goal oriented. Set your goals to know how you are progressing.

I- initiative . Be initiative and innovative. Be original, stop imitating. Star something new
J- joyful. Maintain a joyful spirit in all situation. Joy attracts favour.

L- learn from others. Experience is not the best teacher, learn from other peoples mistake.
M- motivate yourself. Energise yourself, give yourself reasons to keep moving.
N- never: never accept defeat. Always move on with life.

Z- zoom into excellence. Stop wasting time. Try to be very fast with your action.

NIGERIA WILL NEVER FALL APART!!!

Professor Chinua Achebe is no doubt one of the most acclaimed writer and an internationally recognised author. His new book, There Was A Country has generated a lot of reactions from all quarters, political academic and otherwise. The book has generated a lot of noise that the integrity of the renown Professor has been questioned notably from the Yoruba indgenes.
This is not the first time that Achebe will be publishing a denigration memoir on Awolowo and many has assumed maybe Achebe has a personal fued with papa Awo. What better way can he use to show his hatred for one Nigeria? As far as am concern Achebe is still a Biafra propagandist even when many are clamouring for one Nigeria. Awolowo is a national hero and accussing him of being a tribalist is far from the truth. Posterity has already judged him.
Achebe is a giant in the literary world but there is a thick line between literary and politics. He is surely a voice to reckon with in literature but politically a failure. Why holding Awolowo responsible for that? He accused Awolowo of being driven by power. Achebe should please tell all Nigeria what equally driven him in joining the Biafra quarter without considering the lives of common man that will be lost in war if not power. I believe he just write another fiction and never a fact. That Achebe failed politically is not a news but holding Awolowo responsible for it is a senile, thoughtless and baseless accusation. The bitter truth is that there is no way people can appreciate qualities they don't have in other people. Piling false accusation on Awolowo will never help but create another problem entirely. And even if the allegations are truth, please anything wrong. This is war for crying out loud, and in a war the means justify the end. You started the war and the war consumed you.The Igbo race have not totally recovered emotionally from the war and i sincerely pity them, but who is to blame? Is high time we move on and learn from the past rather than dwelling in the past.
I believe Achebe is sad his Biafra dream may not come to pass, at least in his life time if it will never! It's sad he hasn't gotten over the defeat, i thought old age conquers. He still prefer a Biafra ambassador to an ambassador of one Nigeria.
One thing Achebe must understand is things may be falling apart but Nigeria Will Never Fall Apart!!!
